Khang N Le GENEMAPPERS 2026

Khang N Le

I am a medical scientist, and really passionate about disease research. At the Bahlo lab, I have found people who are just as excited about uncovering the mysteries behind complex diseases as I am. My week is pretty varied. Some days, I work in the clinical laboratory running tests to spot rare diseases in newborns. There is a real rush knowing that these results can change a baby's life in the first few days. On other days, I am embedded in research projects, analysing big data to dig deeper into what causes epilepsy at the molecular level. I love having both perspectives—seeing the real-world impact of a diagnosis one day and then pushing the science further in the lab the next. It reminds me why both sides of medical science are so important: real people, real discoveries, every week.
