I will describe two recent studies in my group on the genetics of cognition. In the first, we examined the role of common versus rare variants in cognitive ability across childhood and adolescence in British birth cohorts, revealing dynamic effects that are heterogeneous across the ability distribution. In the second, we showed how imputing missing cognitive performance measures in UK Biobank reduces ascertainment bias and increases power for common and rare variant discoveries.
